interpretation
1

basis: In Arctic water there is no difference between d18O values obtained from N. pachyderma (sin.) and N. pachyderma (dex.), while the differences increase going eastward in the Nordic Seas and into warmer Atlantic water masses [Johannessen, 1992]. Thus the varying contrast between the d18O of N. pachyderma (dex.) and N. pachyderma (sin.) can be used as an indicator of horizontal migration of the Arctic water/Atlantic water interface (Arctic Front).
